Because "the cold" isn't
just a pleasant chill... It's a danger that steals warmth and health
from the elderly, impoverished families, and underprivileged individuals who
lack even a warm winter coat.
When winter arrives, temperatures in
many northern mountainous areas drop significantly. In some provinces, it gets
so cold it can be called a "hazard." This is especially true
in the high, remote areas of Chiang Rai Province, where most of the land is
forest and surrounded by mountains. Freezing air blankets the high peaks, with
temperatures plummeting to just 3–7 degrees Celsius.
For many, the cold might just be a
time to enjoy a "pleasant breeze." But for them—the elderly,
impoverished families, and underprivileged people living in the high, remote
areas of Chiang Rai Province—the cold becomes a threat to their lives
and health.
It's a heartbreaking sight: many
families still face the cold without adequate clothing. Old, torn winter coats
and thin blankets offer no protection against the biting wind. While some
blankets have been distributed, many people still lack essential items like
winter coats, hats, gloves, and socks, which are crucial for alleviating the
cold in daily life.
Chiang Rai Provincial Red Cross Chapter has launched the "Chiang Rai Winter Clothing Project to Combat the Cold" to produce 5,000 winter coats. These will bring warmth to the elderly, needy families, and underprivileged individuals across 18 districts, helping everyone achieve better health and well-being. Warmth isn't just a physical item; it's hope and encouragement. Let's join together to share warmth and create smiles this winter. Because your kindness is the warmest light of all.
