Ban Bang Kan
School is not just missing a cafeteria; it's missing a "safe
space" where everyone can live with quality.
Every school
day, children should be able to eat lunch surrounded by smiles, laughter, and a
clean, safe environment. But for the students, teachers, and staff of Ban Bang
Kan School in Phang Nga Province, the reality is different.
Ban Bang Kan
School, located in Mueang Phang Nga District, Phang Nga Province, is a
medium-sized school with 136 students and 14 staff members, totaling 150
people. It offers classes from Kindergarten 1 to Primary 6 and was founded in
1940. It's understandable that a building over 85 years old would deteriorate
over time.
Consequently,
the Ban Bang Kan School Basic Education Committee has resolved to prohibit
the use of the old cafeteria. They fear it could endanger the lives of
students, teachers, and staff. As a result, they've had to use the area next to
the P.1 A classroom building and under the school's trees as alternative lunch
areas.
Imagine this:
on a rainy day with a storm raging, or on the hottest day, everyone at the
school doesn't even have a safe cafeteria. What should be a time of joy for
meals turns into facing scorching sunlight, flies swarming food, or getting
soaked by the rain.
This isn't just
about a dilapidated building; it's a problem that directly impacts hygiene and
safety. They are forced to use unsuitable areas, risking exposure to sunlight,
insects, dust, and diseases that come with an unsanitary environment.
Today, the
Phang Nga Provincial Red Cross, in collaboration with Ban Bang Kan School, has
initiated the "Cafeteria Building Renovation Project for Ban Bang Kan
School Students." This project aims to restore the cafeteria, making
it strong, safe, and ready for use once again. The goal is to provide everyone
at the school with a hygienic and safe space to eat, while also promoting their
quality of life. Because every safe meal means a smile for the students,
teachers, and staff of Ban Bang Kan School.
The total cost
for the building work, including construction for the renovation and repair of
Ban Bang Kan School's cafeteria building, is 658,261 Baht. The cost for
equipment is 254,000 Baht. This brings the total budget to 912,261
Baht.
